What is the College Partner Program?

In an effort to help provide cleaner air on college campuses, Austin Air Systems has launched a multi-faceted College Partner Program. As an Austin Air partner, colleges and universities could earn a free medical-grade air purifier (a $715 value) for their campus health clinic to reduce viral transmission and help keep everyone safe. Austin Air will also offer special, partner-only incentives for the students, faculty, and staff. These are just a few of the ways colleges and universities can partner with Austin.

Why is clean air on college and university campuses important?

Students spend most of their time in communal spaces like dorm rooms, classrooms, academic buildings and dining halls. If the air in these spaces is not clean, students are at risk of higher transmission rates of various diseases, including Covid-19, RSV, the flu, and more. According to the CDC, as of February 16, 2023, there have been 102,998,014 total Covid-19 cases in the U.S. The virus is airborne and spreads quickly, especially in college and university settings, making it imperative to keep the air clean (1).

Additionally, airborne toxins from cleaning supplies, furniture, electronics, and building materials can also worsen air quality. And studies show poor indoor air quality can also affect students’ sleep, energy levels, hormones, and mental health. The American Psychological Association has even said student mental health is in crisis, and it continues to worsen (2).

Why Austin Air?

Austin Air purifiers are the best in the industry, with 60 square feet of Medical-Grade Certified HEPA Material technology that removes up to 99% of airborne contaminants, like viruses, bacteria, dust, dander and allergens, as small as 0.1 microns.

Our air purifiers also include up to 15 pounds of activated carbon, which combined with the Medical-Grade Certified HEPA Material, makes them the most effective at reducing viral transmission according to the EPA.

We know our air purifiers work, because we are the only clinically proven air purifier on the market, backed by six randomized, controlled trials.

Austin Air purifiers are also handcrafted in the U.S., so you don’t have to worry about pesky supply chain issues getting in the way of you receiving your air purifier.

When using government funding, it’s important to invest in government-backed technology. At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the CDC, the EPA, and the WHO all developed guidelines to guarantee a safe return to school and work. Each agency recommended the use of portable Certified HEPA Material air purifiers.

The EPA also produced a comprehensive review of air purification technologies and stated that a combination of Certified HEPA Material and carbon is most effective. It also warned against electronic air cleaners (especially ESPs and ionizers), UV lights and PCO or Photocatalytic Oxidation technology. The report states these are: “…known to generate harmful byproducts such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide…and… can also generate ozone.”
