Our pets fill our lives with joy and companionship; however, they also bring odors, allergens, and dander into our homes. What is the best way to remove pet odors, pet allergens, and dander? What Austin Air Purifier is effective in reducing or eliminating pet allergies or dander allergies such as cat allergies and dog allergies?

We know that many of us are allergic to dogs or cats. Even so, we still have our pets. When our doctor recommends that a pet be removed because of allergies, some of us still keep them around and after our pet passes away, we replace them with a new pet. One breed of pet may generate a greater intensity of allergic reaction than another. Even when our pets are hairless (so-called “non-allergenic breeds”), our pets still are a source of dander and odors.

The sources of allergies from our pets come from many places. The glands in the animal’s skin secrete tiny allergy-triggering proteins, called allergens. These allergens linger in the animal’s fur and when your pet moves around, can easily enter the air you breathe. You will find allergens in your animal’s saliva and urine. Often, these become airborne when saliva dries on the fur. Sometimes, we only have a mild reaction but on occasion, the allergens can cause life-threatening complications.

Obviously, we love our pets and they are here to stay. We can remove odors, allergens, and dander easily by using a high quality Austin Air Purifier and a few guidelines.

The Austin Air purifier we recommend is the Austin Air Pet Machine. It is the Austin Air purifier exclusively designed specifically for pet owners. The Austin Air Pet Machine is built with a highly specialized carbon blend combined with a High Efficiency Particle Arresting (Certified HEPA Material) technology Austin Air filter that is exceptionally effective at trapping the airborne dust, dander, allergens, and odors caused by pets. This system cleans the air you breathe of cat allergens, bird feather dust, dog dander, germs, viruses, bacteria, asthma-triggering irritants, most pet odors, as well as other chemicals & gases. Clean air is delivered rapidly with one of the industry’s best rapid air exchange rates.

This system has 4-stage filtering:

  • STAGE 1 – Large Particle Pre-filter – Removes particles easily seen by the naked eye (e.g. dust, hair and pet dander)
  • STAGE 2 – Medium Particle Pre-filter – Removes small to medium size particles (e.g. molds, spores and pollen)
  • STAGE 3 – 15 lbs. of Specialty Carbons/Zeolite Blend – Reduces odors caused by pets and other chemicals, gases and odors (e.g. ammonia and sulfuric acid)
  • STAGE 4 – 60 ft. of true medical grade Certified HEPA Material – Removes pet allergens such as dander and dust, as well as thousands of other micro-organisms (e.g. bacteria and viruses)

Additional Guidelines:

  • The most effective way of reducing the allergens on your pets is to bathe them weekly. Consult your veterinarian or a book to determine the best ways of bathing your pet along with the selection of shampoos.
  • Keep pets out of bedrooms. Use covers for the mattress and pillows that prevent allergens from penetrating. Wash clothes in soup and hot water. Clean your rugs often with dry steam and where possible, eliminate the rugs.
  • Avoid dust-and-dander-catching cloth furnishings, curtains, and blinds. Keep to a minimum dust catching items such as books, dolls, knickknacks and other similar items. Should you have them, wash with hot water on occasion. Vacuum rugs often with a Certified HEPA Material filtering vacuum system.
  • Consult your doctor about allergies. Be tested. Your allergies may be caused by allergens other than those from pets.
  • At your doctor advice, you may want immunotherapy (allergy shots). Patients are usually given one dose per week over a short period of time. This therapy is than followed-up with periodic boosters.

By following these guidelines and keeping an Austin Air Pet Machine in your home, you can greatly reduce pet odors, pet allergens, and pet dander.
