What does this prefilter actually do?
The prefilter captures visible airborne debris like dust, pet hair, lint, and dander before it reaches your main filter. This protects your unit and helps it run more efficiently.
How do I know which filter size I need?
Check the label on your Austin Air unit — standard units begin with HM4 (like HM400), junior units start with HM2 (like HM200), and the personal "it" units are smaller and labeled accordingly. You can also measure your unit or use our “Help Me Choose” tool.
Does this come with the full filter?
No — this is a replacement prefilter only, designed to pair with your existing Austin Air main filter. It’s the first stage of your purifier’s 4-stage system.
How do I choose the right color?
Choose white if your unit is White or Sandstone, and black if your unit is Black, Midnight Blue, or Graphite. This helps it blend in with your purifier’s exterior grille.
Which models does this prefilter fit?
This prefilter fits standard-size Austin Air units only — including the HealthMate, HealthMate Plus, Bedroom Machine, and Allergy Machine. It does not fit Junior or Personal models.
